Jaguar Creates Custom F-TYPE Concept for British Cycling Team

Fans of the stunning Jaguar F-TYPE are in for a treat, and maybe a little bit of heartache, as the British automaker recently revealed a one-of-a-kind  F-TYPE Coupe Concept high performance support vehicle for the Britain’s Team Sky cycling team.

The stunning one-off F-TYPE was designed to be used as a support vehicle for Team Sky during Stage 20 of the 2014 Tour de France, which saw riders traverse from Bergerac to Périgueux.

Development of this custom-made F-TYPE Coupe was undertaken by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations; follows the successful launch of the Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupe, which to date is the most dynamically capable, performance-focused production car Jaguar has ever built; and sports the same 550-horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.

Sadly – and here is where the heartache comes in – Jaguar has no plans of placing this bespoke F-TYPE into production. In fact, engineers working in the new Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations team were briefed specifically to develop one vehicle for Team Sky and Team Sky only.

So what sets this model apart from its production counterpart? Bespoke features include a new racking solution, which carries two of the team's Pinarello Bolide TT bikes, and an exterior finished in Team Sky's famous livery, with color ways and other Team Sky graphic design features also present inside the car. Additional exclusive specifications include a separate electric supply in the trunk, which provides power to the team’s radios, amplifiers, microphones, horns, and televisions.

The F-TYPE Concept is a remarkable vehicle and while we may never see an actual production version, Jaguar fans can take solace knowing that the production version F-TYPE and F-TYPE Coupe are very real and ready to offer drivers the road-going experience of a lifetime.
